Nacho Average Protein Snack 🧀
Nothing beats a nice warm bowl of nachos for movie night. It’s the perfect comfort meal to curl up to a nice flick. Here’s a healthy recipe I made recently for your next nacho fix. It is packed with protein to keep you fueled enough to finish your movie without having to crash on carbs and fall asleep mid-movie (guilty as charged)!
Ingredients
Base:
Healthy tortilla chips (baked, whole grain, or even high-protein chips like Quest. They have so many flavors to choose from like: )
1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
Seasoning (i.e. Adobo, oregano, taco seasoning cumin, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, salt, pepper, etc.)
🧀 High-Protein Queso:
1 cup cottage cheese
1/2 cup shredded Mexican-style cheese blend
🥑 Toppings:
1/2 avocado, diced
Sliced jalapeños (optional)
2–4 tbsp Greek yogurt (substitute for sour cream)
🧩 Other Add-ons (customize your nachos as you like)
Black beans
Corn
Diced tomatoes
Red onion
Cilantro or green onion
Salsa
Tools
Pan
Spatula or cooking spoon
Blender or immersion blender
Knife, spoon and cutting board (for cutting veggies, toppings, and serving food)
RECIPE
Cook the ground beef or turkey in a pan. Season to your liking with your favorite spices!
As the meat is cooking, prepare your queso. Blend cottage cheese with shredded Mexican cheese and gently heat in the oven or microwave for a few minutes until smooth and creamy.
On a plate, layer chips, meat, and warm queso.
Add toppings of choice! Make it your own!
